Vorokhta II

Summit day! right? right? Wrong. We had a slight failure of a day.

We woke up a little late and took a while to get moving. I mean we couldn't miss breakfast, especially if we were to be climbing the highest mountain in Ukraine that day.

By the time we got into town we had a slight change of heart. It was 20 km to the foot of Mt H and then another 2000 odd metres to the summit. So instead, we decided we'd go rent some bikes and try out some trails. We knew there was a local, trusted bike rental somewhere but we didn't know exactly where. So first off we tried a small shop that advertised bikes in a basement. No good though. No brakes, no helmets.

Plan B was to text the manager of the aforementioned trusted company. No immediate luck. So we sat and waited. Got lunch. Waited. Then went for a walk to try and find the rental place. We walked for 20 mins into the middle of nowhere and spent half an hour at a roadside bar trying to not cry by laughing. The beer numbed us.

We went back, still not having a text back. We found the place, in the end. It was shut. It turns out that A) we had walked the wrong way out of town and B) you had to pick up the bikes at 9am.

We got a text telling us to come the next day. But we had to leave. We officially achieved nothing.
