Isleworth Odeon

Isleworth once had it's own cinema. It was the second of George Coles designs for the Odeon group and was in the Bauhaus style. It actually only remained a cinema for 22 years and was an early casualty of the rising popularity of television, closing in 1957.

After it closed it was gutted, (as in everything ripped out, not completely disappointed!), and was taken over by Equator Films, later to become Handmade Films who are still around today.

The auditorium part of the cinema was demolished in 2003 and new flats erected but the original entrance section remains although it is now inhabited by a chinese restaurant.
