Zoo Trip #15: Marwell Wildlife

Unless one counts the trip to Butterfly World, I am a couple of days late with my monthly trip to a zoo. I picked Marwell Wildlife to visit today, as one of their snow leopards recently gave birth to three cubs, and set off this morning. I stopped at Pewsey Wharf for a spot of light lunch beside the canal at the Waterfront pub.

There was a large crowd at the snow leopard enclosure but no sign of the cubs, and only one adult in sight. Apparently one cub had appeared briefly at the mouth of a den, decided it was still too warm, and gone inside again. There were plenty of other enclosures with lots going on, including the tigers and the fossa enclosure. There's always next time for the cubs.

The black swan (Cygnus atratus) is one of pair found at the Black Swan Pool, the first thing visitors see when they enter the zoo. Details of the black swan are at Wikipedia here.
