A time for everything

Deer grazing by the roadside

We had quite a string of storms come through overnight with quite heavy rain and thunder and lightening. Fortunately things had calmed down by the time we left for church. The day remained grey and overcast, with more rain, but as yet, no more storms, though more were forecast. Roger and I did manage to get a bike ride in (without getting too wet!) on the Little Miami River trail, from Loveland to Milford and back, a return trip of 18 miles. En route, we passed this deer munching on the grass at the roadside. Unfortunately, the weather will have put rather a damper on the festivities in downtown Cincinnati this evening. This is the Labor Day weekend, and today Cincinnati celebrates with Riverfest, culminating with a huge firework display, one of the largest in the Mid-West, which is set off from barges in the middle of the Ohio river, normally watched by almost half a million people from both sides of the river - Ohio and Kentucky. Laura was supposed to be going down with a group of friends from university, but they decided against it given the forecast for more storms.

It's worth checking out in large - you can see the grass still in his mouth!
