Dennis Street

Visited an industrial part of Jacksonville known as Mixon Town.

I parked up by some vacant premises -- I doubt if the US economy was growing by 10 percent annually they would ever be used again -- and when I got back from my stroll, I had the company of Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The police officer, a female, was checking there wasn't the victim of a crime in the car. As she said: "A nice car parked in this locale looked a bit suspicious."

A few years back a body had lain in a car for three days and the police got into a lot of bother for not checking it out sooner. It was only when the smell caused someone to call the police that the grim discovery was made.

We chatted for about 30 minutes about crime in Jacksonville and Jacksonville in general. She was a really pleasant to talk to and not the kind of person you would immediately think of when it comes to crime fighting.

This shot is view along Dennis Street towards downtown Jacksonville. And as you can see the area is pretty deserted.
