This shot needs a little explaining ! This morning I visited the Campbeltown Community Organic Garden to see a place I had heard a great deal about and to visit the new COG Watch scheme.

COG Watch is about letting children see at close quarters the wildlife in the garden and giving them a greater understanding of nature. There were some pupils from Drumlemble Primary School there today and they had been particularly involved in designing the new bird feeding house, which sits within a small enclosure protected against predation from rooks and larger birds.

A camera beams very high quality pictures back from the enclosure to a wee hut, where we all watched with fascination. Then we were shown a recording from last week, in which a Sparrowhawk managed to find its way into the enclosure. This is one of the stills from that video - it was fascinating !

The Garden is a great place, and huge credit is due to the volunteers who work in it, and those who lead them and who have made the vision come true - especially Dave Pearson, the Chairman.
