Near Bannack

We had a lovely day beginning with the Farmer's Market in Missoula, followed by lunch with my good friend and mentor N. Then we kicked off phase two of the road trip and drove to Dillon, MT. On the way, we stopped at the labyrinth and had a nice time walking and absorbing its metaphors.

Here - warm light, cool air. I had forgotten how chilly it can be at 7200 ft. We stopped here briefly for a historical exhibit. It said that this landscape in front of us has been a traveling route, nearly unchanged, for thousands of years. Indians used it and then Lewis and Clarke came through here as well. It's now home to one of the largest cattle ranches in America.
