There's been a sudden-seeming increase in Edgar's general non-babyness over the last few days, possibly emphasized by the couple of days' stress where environment and internal conditions were abnormal. A few more definite-words-at-specific-things, more frequent and accurate employment of the 'elephant' sign when presented with a depiction of an elephant, more structured-seeming playing and after a short break he's been much more into carrying his monkey about on his shoulder, patting (slapping, but he means well) it on the back and babbling at it. Fortunately he's also been happier to chat to the (other) monkey, the carrot, the elephant and the bear in his cot in the morning after waking up for a few minutes before shouting-until-retrieved. In the evening he's getting better at calming down as it nears milk-and-sleepsuit time, voluntarily coming to sit down to be read at and paying attention to books for longer. One thing we've only managed to test once is whether the putting-in-the-cot sequence also works when employed to replace him in the cot after an unscheduled early awakening. Hopefully there won't be one this evening, nice though it is to be around when he's awake.
