9/11 Memorial, Morris County, New Jersey

There was no way I was going to drive past some actual girders from the wreckage of the World Trade Center on the week of the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 and not blip them.

This memorial is in Morristown NJ. The base of the monument has plaques all around it with the names of those from New Jersey that died in the attacks. All the way around the outside of the monument there is a red brick ring 10 bricks thick with many of the bricks having the names of the almost 3000 people who died. The monument itself is a circle surrounded by a curved iron bench that is broken up by gaps where wooden bridges lead out across a moat of water. The red brick ring is outside this.

Around the monument many relatives and friends have put flowers, t-shirts, pictures next to the names of their loved ones.

The centerpiece is three sections of steel girders from ground zero, set in concrete.

The weather was miserable, my shots were all hand held taken under an umbrella in the rain. The sky was very stormy looking as torrential rain had just passed over. It really did put you in the right mood for what you were seeing.
