Guess what this is....

Just back from a wonderful 4 days in North Norfolk.

On the way back we stopped at Brancaster Staithe for our usual crab sandwich from The Crab Hut. (Yummy!!)

What looks like some old scrap metal is infact a mechanical mussel riddling machine!!
It works very well too! Riddles out the smaller mussels to be put back into the mussel beds to grow bigger. Also cleans the mud off.They then go into tanks to clean and get rid of any impurities.

In a week or two the wonderful Brancaster mussels will be back on all the local pub menus.

Or you can cook your own. Just buy a bag from the stalls at the road side.
