Heritage Open Day

Picture of the back of Oakwell Hall, Yorkshire taken from the Elizabethan knot garden.

Went for a walk round Oakwell country park this morning. Didn't know it was Kirklees Heritage Open Day.
Haven't been in the Hall for ages so decided to have a look round.
Had forgotten what an interesting place it is.
Built in the reign of Elizabeth I.
Connections with Sir Thomas Fairfax(Civil War) and also Charlotte Bronte.

In the kitchen they had food for you to taste made from 17th century recipes.
Tried the strawberry tart flavoured with red wine and cinnamon, really nice.(tasted better than it looked)

Why is it we never appreciate what is on our door step?

Off to Norfolk for a few days tomorrow. No blips till Thursday.

Have a good week everyone.
