Old Asia hand

In the corner of my garage collecting dust is a metal cookie tin, blue with white stripes, from Japan. Inside is this small collection of things from my Asia days. The smell of the Gudang Garam (="salt mine") clove cigarettes from Indonesia is still strong, and instantly brings back memories. Smells can do that.

Other things visible in the photo include an empty Anacin tin, a Japanese fan, a waterproof match canister, a Moroccan glass bead, a small metal box of insignificant gems from Jaipur, the edge of a pan from a small weigh scale, some embroidery thread, and cloth from Singapore.
