Memories

After working quite a few years in the Royal Bank I could not contemplate returning after having a family and have someone else care for them. I decided to become self employed and become a registered childminder.

When Andrew started school my first little one came along and over twenty years I looked after twenty children (not all at the same time! ) They came as babies and left (tearfully) to go to nursery aged three.

The job was a fantastic challenge but gave much satisfaction and many laughs. It meant feeding, changing, entertaining but most of all caring and cuddles whenever needed. When they reached an age that they could enjoy arts and craft we would bake , paint , make things from boxes etc, etc. All occasions were catered for and Hallowe'en was always interesting.

In the photos you will see J as 'Elvis'. J was a lively wee lad and I made at least two outfits which were torn almost the minute they were put on. In the end a cardboard cut out was the only answer so that he could stand behind it and give it his all!

G was a beautiful wee girl and always immaculately turned out as was her Mum. G was very independent and at the toilet training stage. She came back one day from the loo and her clothes looked untidy round her waist. On checking I found that the wee soul had pulled a pair of her Mum's pants on top of her own when she was getting dressed that morning!! Oh the dilemma...would I say to her Mum?...would I put them in her bag? ...or would I quietly lose them? Honesty is always the best policy so I told her Mum who looked so embarrassed on seeing them and said, 'Why did she need to pick the greyest pair in the drawer'?

The children were much loved by our three and adored in return. We still see and hear from many of them. In fact J was first at the door with flowers after Euan was born.

This was supposed to be a quick rainy day blip and has turned into a tome!Apologies and have a wonderful weekend , Blippers.
