The countryside was attractive on our Friday walk but the time of year was reflected most in these Colchicum autumnale, commonly known as autumn crocus. I spotted them just as the walk came to an end, nestling under a prunus tree. The walk was invigorating and some of it was along the Jurassic Way and old railway tracks that have long since become abandoned since our rail system was severely pruned in the Sixties. The passengers must have delighted in travelling through such lovely undulating countryside.

For the record: 20C max, mainly cloudy with a slight breeze and ideal for walking.
