A slice of Lesley's life

Vauxhall Bridge

Last night was a lot of fun. So this morning was a little tricky but we got the kids up and to school without too much bother. A restorative breakfast with the papers and we were fortified enough to head into town. We got the tube to Embankment, walked through the Embankment Gardens and then headed back westwards to see how far home we could walk along the river. Actually when we started out we intended to walk to a pub on the river in Hammersmith for lunch. Two and a bit hours and approximately six miles later and it transpired that it is further than we thought and we turned to motorised transport to get us the last three miles to a local pub so we'd have time for both lunch and a quick nap before pick-up. Next time we'll remember that the river's a bit bendier than the roads that head straight into town.

It was such a lovely sunny day and so relaxing to walk along the river. Though I eventually had to put the camera away as there were simply too many things to photograph and we wouldn't have made it more than a mile. Bridges, towers, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Sphinx, Cleopatra's Needle, hidden away quays, Battersea Power Station, parks, gardens, statues, boats, the London Eye, skyscrapers, Southbank...

Here's Vauxhall Bridge, the MI6 building and a London bus. I like the colours and I especially like the statues on the side. Never noticed them before. It was that sort of a day. A real treat.

Next treat, literally on the menu, is curry de Carlos and West Wing.
