ferrari classiche - mamma mia!!

well, how often do you receive a personal, behind the scenes tour of the ferrari factory? what an experience!

it all started in april while we were backpacking around Venezuela for a few weeks. we treated ourselves to a stay in the carribean archipelageo of Los Roques at the end of a trip of trekking and south american basic accommodation. during our stay we met a lovely italian family - the father of whom, it transpired, works for Ferrari at the 'factory' near Modena.

so, as they say "when in Rome"...

we looked him up and were treated to a tour of the place. now, i'm not a big car person but my goodness, simply stunning classic Ferraris all cloaked in red Ferrari cloths, in a sparkling clean workshop... being shown the original paperwork for the first ever Ferrari.. watching Eric Clapton's one off Ferrari being constructed by hand.. and then being taken into the production line in the modern side of the factory where GTO shells travel along in the sky on mechanised robot carriers... so, so many thanks to the wonderful Andrea who took time out of his overseeing the Classiche side of things to show us around.

and then an F1 speed drive south again into Tuscany to meet the wedding party at our wonderful Tuscan villas.

life - it's good!

again, backblipping here so do have a wee flick through the previous few entries of Florence and Venice...
