Life with The Pinks

Sunflower morning

A longstanding tradition at Master Pink's school is to have the "sunflower morning". A healthy dose of competitive spirit and the opportunity for the children to spend the summer willing their sunflowers to grow culminates in a morning of judging, prizes and cups of tea. The children make "flower arrangments" and decorate buns, while the judging goes on outside. At 11.30 (ish) the winners are announced and everyone who is a winner receives a beautifully made certificate and first place receives a prize too. What fun!

Better still Master Pink won "the sunflower with most open heads" and came third in the "nature photography" competition. Miss Pink won the pre-school "floristry" with her attempt at a table decoration. (This was achieved by me saying, where shall we put this bit, and Miss Pink saying "there" or "this one" to me. She's a good manager!!)

Hoorah all round, and this afternoon I got to have couple of hours in town with my mum pottering around the local town window shopping - lovely.
