Sleepy in Seattle

We arrived in Seattle this afternoon, thankfully amid a brief stint of warm and pleasant weather.
The birthplace of both Microsoft and Starbucks, this so-called Emerald City is computers, coffe plus a whole lot more. Many a global trend is born here, a city where wealthy entrepreneurs, radical environmentalists, new age hippies and computer geeks merrily merge together.

Our accomodation is literally a stones throw from the famous Pike Place Market, a wonderfully eclectic mix of wise-cracking showman fishmongers, eye-poppingly colourful greengrocers, hiddem gem record stores and proudly independant book shops.
We had a quick mooch around as the sun set (although I've already mentally put ten hours aside to peruse the record stores tomorrow) and even stumbled upon the original Starbucks store, opened in 1971.

After a day of early starts, fond farewells, train trips and endless strolls we are dead on our feet. An early night will hopefully mean an early start in the morning - a chance to catch the market in all its setting-up glory.

Sleep tight Seattle.
