The Edge of the Wold

Bird on a wire

A woodpigeon does his Caped Crusader impersonation on a wire at Warrington Bank Quay Station - well, Wifie thought he looked a little Batman-like, albeit a touch on the portly side.

If nothing else this demonstrates the adaptability of the species. This is the middle of town, above Platform 4 at Warrington BQ with the chimney of the Unilever plant in the background. You might normally expect to find feral pigeons here on a station, but woodpigeons? But then woodpigeons are increasingly moving into urban situations, there's no-one to shoot at them here, and plenty of food.

Another trip to Warrington for a meeting. And today it was greyer and wetter as we went south. What I like most about Warrington is coming home to Arnside afterwards.
