This is Herman, the German Friendship Cake starter that's been given to me to look after until it's ready to make into a cake and pass on to other friends.

Once it's been fed for a week, you divide the starter into four, use one quarter to make your cake, and give the other three starters to friends to keep the chain going.

Don't want to jinx things, but saw another house today that I like. Fingers quietly crossed.

Mum and dad leave to go back to France tomorrow :(
