Quidi Vidi Habour entrance

This is the entrance to Quidi Vidi Harbour, a very small harbour in St. John's, Newfoundland.

As you can see, taking a small boat in or out of the entrance is like threading a needle. But once inside you have amazing protection from any kind of bad weather.

Its beauty in enhanced by Quidi Vidi Brewery which makes superb beers and... thank-heaven, have a building whose archetecture has a charm which adds to the harbour's character.

Along the cliff walls in the east side a small house is being built and the only route to it is by boat. As far as I know everythiung for the construciton was brought in by boat, or simply floated in. It will be in my next post.

In the winter the snow and ice transforms it into a magical winter scene and sometimes a seal will lay on the ice in the harbour and sunbathe. Utter and complete laziness, peace and reelaxation.

Today I was speaking to a visitor from Ontario and they said that we are a unique people. Where else will you see traffic stop - mid-block, to let a pedestrian cross the road.

If you ever visit, call me, I would be pleased to show you around and - bring your cameras! Cheers, Aaron.
