Room with a view?

No blog posting for me today, fairly quite here in Malta, wind was very heavy this morning so no visible migration. This evening I took a team up to Tal Virtu (The road to virtue?) We saw maybe a dozen Marsh Harriers, a couple of Eleorna's Falcons, ketrel, little egret and a night heron. We heard no shots, saw nothing killed. Hunters probably know, as we know that there is not much migration in this wind.

But the wind dies down by the end of the week, and then we will see large numbers of raptors, and consequently large numbers of hunters.

So, anyway, this blip is of the view from the hotel roof. Bob and I went up for a look see today after we heard of a shooting incident opposite the hotel from colleagues here (they filmed a swallow being shot). We went up to film the ALE (Administration of Law Enforcement - the police) arriving on site. When we got up there this guy was waving a gun around at the swallows in the field, turns out this is a separate hunter... Less than 1/4 of a mile away from our hotel.

On a happier note my image yesterday was used by DOF A Danish RSPB?
