Honesty

Lunaria

The honesty flowers are beginning to open. I love the rich, slightly iridescent mauve, especially when the sunshine hasn't faded them. I also love the seed pods as they mature through green and magenta to moon-like maturity.

It took years, but now they are naturalised in my garden. They spread their seeds wherever they will. Those that come up in inappropriate places are easy to remove. I now have them along fences, under trees and hedges, around wood sheds and compost heaps, in rough places, and even in the garden.
