View of Cividale del Friuli

This is a panorama* of Cividale, picturesquely situated high on the banks of the Natisone River, some 15 km north of Udine.

It's a small town in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia in the most northeasterly corner of Italy. Cividale has been named a Unesco World Heritage Site, for its architectural and cultural heritage. We took the train from Udine; the duomo (with the large tower here) and other sights we visited were fascinating. We had a lovely al fresco lunch on one of the main squares.
