The Church of St Nicholas, Bolsterstone

Blipfoto was out of action when I tried to load earlier, then I went to watch some tele, then I fell asleep! I'll be back tomorrow with the story.

Well the story is actually coming three days later, but here it is!

We had friends visiting who were bringing with them a very large icon painting which is actually for someone else (but that's another story). Apart from the fact that it's now taking up space in our conservatory. We decided to take them to the Dog and Partridge for lunch on the edge of the moor, which was very nice, and then we made our way via Langsett, to High Bradfield which John wanted to see because he'd once played the organ there at someone's wedding. (He'd also been involved in the Symphony for Yorkshire and some of the filming had been done in the village.)

The church of St Nicholas is a Grade 1 listed building with many interesting features both outside and in. Three bags of gold are impressed on each of the lead downspouts to represent the gold that he gave away ... story to follow
