While on my runs

Early opening

Despite being late to bed last evening after the comprehensive win by New Zealand over France at the Rugby World Cup match in Auckland last night, I woke at the same time. Of course with daylight saving starting over night, I was actually an hour later! But at the right time to get out for an early morning run.

Along Ponsonby Road a wee way, I went past Cafe Byzantium, which was just opening its doors for early customers, none of whom were to be seen near here. Other cafes were opening further along towards Three Lamps, and then along Jervois Road I actually saw some early customers. Three young women whose overhead conversation suggested they were heading home after celebrating the victory last night.

Cafe Byzantium is one of the oldest cafes on the Ponsonby Road/Jervois Road strip. Just inside the door is a staff member who has just completed the setting of the kerbside tables. I have included a self portrait as well.

Went North to see Mother in law this afternoon, and also to see S' Melbourne based brother who is across for a few days with his younger son. Delighted to report that MIL is improved. has her voice back, is wanting to move around a wee bit, and showing a real interest in lots of things again. Appetite much improved. Good antibiotics work.

We hope for another period of stability.

Blipping in a bit of a hurry this evening as we are about to visit friends in West Auckland. A bit of a break, especially for S, who really needs it.

As an aside, I have just become a member in celebration of reaching 300 a few days ago.
