Crocus goulmyi ssp leucanthus

A dull, damp day. Not kind to sun-loving crocuses ... or photographers.

Crocus goulimyi is usually pale lavender blue. Subspecies leucanthus has very pale flowers which often look white in strong light. Today you can see the subtle shading on the outer petals which make this one special. It comes from Southern Greece, the Mani penninsula and is named for a Greek botanist, Dr Goulimyi.
