The Horseshoe Curve

This is between the Bridge of Orchy and Tyndrum on the West Highland Line on our return journey. It is taken from the train so it's obvious why it is so named.

We saw the northern part of the line in daylight this morning and it was certainly spectacular. We also made a stop at the iconic Rannoch Station.

I have enjoyed the trip as the seasonal colours were as spectacular as the scenery but for a photographer it was quite frustrating. Few opening windows heavily occupied by either photo nutters like me or equally fanatical rail buffs, raindrops, light reflection and steam on the windows, but in all a quite a relaxing change.
