The Palace

Yes, I know it says The Regent, but when this building was originally opened as a cinema in 1920 it was indeed the Palace. It is in Walton-on-Thames and was their only cinema, remaining independent of the big chains until it's closure. During that time it changed it's name to The Regent.

In 1994, Wetherspoons took the building over, and despite having to fit in tables, chairs and a bar, the layout of the cinema is still visible. And the original art deco lines of the exterior are still there without too much messing about with new signage.

The cinema had closed by the time I started visiting Walton so I never saw a film there but I have to admit, more than 1 pint has passed my lips on those premises.
