While on my runs

Lost aspirations

My first blip in November last year, which I called Aspiration, was of this statue.

This morning as I was starting on the route back home from running through part of the Auckland Domain, I noticed this man (I assume) sleeping beneath the statue, tucked neatly away from the rain, and protected from intrusive others by his supermarket trolley of belongings.

Sadly, I imagine that his aspirations are markedly reduced. By what, must be speculation. What to do about it? Equally speculative, as the answer for him needs to meet his needs. So is it simply access to food, clothing, shelter, and opportunity to find his "bliss" as Joseph Campbell termed it?

Unfortunately, not simple to produce.
