My Year in Pictures

Tails

Was back down in Cirencester this morning to photograph another group of children going through The Kitchen Challenge.

They normally visit an abattoir during their course, however as it hadn't been possible to arrange this time around, they went to Len's. He's a local resident who, after a career being a chef in the Navy (I think I've got that right - I was only listening with half an ear as I was snapping away!), now endeavours to keep the local vermin under control and then creates culinary delights with them!

So we all walked over to see him and hear all about how he shoots pigeons and squirrels and how his lovely dog Pepper fetches them for him.

He demonstrated plucking a pigeon and then removing it's breasts - then all the kids had a go too - though perhaps with not so much finesse! We then sampled his pigeon burgers sandwiched between slices of bread which had been made in the oven he built himself in the garden.

A great experience for everyone to see a different side to things.
