Storm brewing along Four mile beach

We had a lovely morning on the beach under the shade of the palm trees dodging falling coconuts (I know, it can't be real can it?!). Next thing the wind picked up and the sound of thunder echoed down the beach. In the nick of time we remembered our bed for the night is in a tent and we got back to close the flaps just as the rain started to fall. It has been raining pretty much constantly since and the thunder is getting louder and the lightening more dramatic.

We decided to hire a car for tomorrow and plan to head out to the rainforest. Like true Brits we sat in the car eating ice creams while the rain fell outside! This photo was taken of the storm approaching from Flagstaff Lookout just above Port Douglas.

Major downside is the power to the tents has been switched off, its going to be a very hot night.
