A Tiny Garden in NE Wales

Autumnal colours

Lovely sunny day today. Spent a fair bit of it in the garden tidying up and repairing woodwork. Sun at this time of year just gets over the mountain behind us and provides filtered sunlight and the flowers were taking full advantage of the last rays.

Once we reach that time of year when we turn our clocks back an hour we will lose all sunlight in both the back and front of the house. Once again we will be plunged into the doom and gloom of late Autumn and Winter, turning into troglodytes squinting at any bright light. The sun will return next spring.

Back to our sunny afternoon, always amazes me how long some plants continue flowering into Autumn. We still have sunflowers, sweetpeas, roses and penstemons in flower. The Michaelmas daisies are well into flower although they are not as tall as previous years. Might need to dig them up next spring and split them as they are rather large!

Cheers to a lovely day :)
