Journey Through Time

McMenamin's Edgefield Manor

Went to the little town of Troutdale, east of Portland today. Stopped at the McMenamin Brother's first venture, Edgefield Manor. (I think...) It is an interesting place to visit. They have several buildings, a garden, vineyards, brewery, spa, overnight lodging, a special event ballroom and other rooms for gatherings, outdoor concert area, a restaurant and a restaurant/pub, among other things. It is recommended to go inside the main building and look over all the incredible art work that is everywhere. This main building used to be the county poor farm, many years ago. The brother's bought the property and it is reborn and flourishing. There are at least three or maybe four entrances into the main building, all with these wonderful large porches and they all have these chairs that harken back to the days of yesterday, when the old folks would sit and visit.

This building, fascinating to me, creeps out my auntie. Apparently there is a spirit or two lurking about, and she does not find that appealing. She tolerated it while I snapped some shots. Indoor shots weren't that great, but the day has ended up fairly decent and the outside shots were okay.

The Lodge
If you go to the above blipfolio link, you can see more of the Lodge and a wedding and some of the grounds. I could have spent the entire afternoon there, taking photos.
