Cuckmere Haven

It was such a gloriously sunny day that it demanded a long walk by the sea. So, sandwiches were packed and we headed to Eastbourne. Fred had the wise thought of walking into the sun for maximum ray exposure. This meant we had to wear sunglasses the whole way. They were very much needed. I didn't really need to have taken my coat, but I knew I'd feel the benefit of it later on.

So we walked up the path from Eastbourne on to the clifftops of the Seven Sisters[/url while watching nineteen paragliders soar the air currents above. It must take some skill not to bump into each other.

The walk was really fantastic, mainly due to the sun and big sea horizons. We stopped for tea and cake at Burling Gap, then carried on towards Cuckmere Haven where we watched the sun set. We had a bit of an Indiana Jones moment crossing the River Cuckmere (mid calf in full flow and a big danger of getting very wet).

At Seaford, we took out our torches as the sun went down and managed not to fall off the cliffs. Lovely, lovely day.
