Captain's Logbook

Faux Victoriana

I know many plumbers would think this looks terrible. The accepted wisdom is that soldered joints look neater. But I like this look. Its kind of chunky and overly designed. For me it has an air of old steam engine about it, or a cartoon fantasy machine. It's also very simple - any leak can be fixed by dressing up like Fred Dibnah, getting out a spanner and oily rag and cranking things down a bit here and there, whilst whistling Rule Britannia.

I've even left the chalk marks on the wall where I planned the layout. What amazed me was, when doing the layuot I marked where things seemed about right...and sure enough when the pipes were lined up they were just about spot on. There is an engineers adage, if it looks right it probably is. If it doesn't then it definately isn't.

So this has been my day - fun and games. The flu is all lined up ready to be cut to length and fitted, then the condensate drain fitted and wire it all up. Safety checks for pressure and gas leaks, then all should be well.
