Sgwarnog: In the Field

Déjà View

Today's picture is brought to you mainly to illustrate some of the qualities lacking in yesterday's almost identical view.

I said that there were usually birds on the chimney pots, so today you have birds. I make it one Blackbird and some combination of Collared Dove/ Wood Pigeon.

Today I've hidden the sun behind a chimney stack, which may have helped make the skyline a bit sharper. The stack plumes of Drax 35 miles away were more evident today anyway, including the one emerging from the UK's tallest chimney. At 259 metres this was until last year the second tallest free-standing structure in the UK, but has been booted into third by The Shard. If I'd panned to the right we have also got the tallest free standing structure in our view, Emley Moor Tower at 330.5 metres, although that shows up better at night with it's pulsing red lights.

As a bonus, the sharp-eyed amongst you may pick out an incoming Leeds-Bradford airport flight. Try the large view if you can't make it out at first.
