Black Prince

Just a rather marvelous statue that I see every day, yet hardly ever notice. It's Edward, Prince of Wales, aka the Black Prince (1330-1376).

He was apparently the eldest son of Edward III and gave the French a drubbing at Crecy and Poitiers during the Hundred Years War. He died before his father so he never got to take the throne.

I like him, the Black Prince. These days he's always got a pigeon or something sitting on his raised arm. He's also a reminder that my job as a corporate communications slave around the corner really isn't such a big deal.
