I totally missed last Friday!

With a visit to Edinburgh with sheilwill and the awesome Rugby World Cup final, I am well behind! This is Jayne Crow from Carnforth, near Lancaster fronting her Jazz Band at Burgundy's, Kendal last thursday night. Likened by many to the Canadian multi-million album seller Diana Krall, Jayne's eloquent rendition of jazz ballads has drawn praise from many jazz critics. Jayne is a classically trained singer (BA hons, QTS ALCM TD for the officinados) who worked for several years teaching singing before commencing a career as a secondary school music teacher. Her influences include Ella Fitzgerald and Stacey Kent. In her band are many guys that are jazz maestros - Paul Froggatt on tenor sax (his sketch is on www.watercolourjazz.co.uk ), the eminent Prof Mike Reynolds on keyboards and Paul Guppe on base (also on the website) and backing them all, the very up and coming Peter Froggatt on drums. All this and a selection of real ales from Mike Pennington, our host at Burgundy's. Ted forgot Froggatt in his intro - there's a price to pay for such slip ups!
