It is Friday!

Here is the immensely talented Mo Witham at the opening gig for the new Brewhouse Bar for Burgundy's Wine Bar in Kendal. He was with Robin Sunflower on harmonica and John Ellis on keyboards, both had come up from Manchester, and the regular host Ted Richards on drums.

A great turnout that got the place rocking and even dancing with the extra space in this new bar. For me it was a great pleasure as 17 of my sketches/paintings now hang on the walls at Burgundy's - they convey that this is a serious jazz venue. The whole evening got off to a great start with Mike Pennington, the owner, providing an open bar for all those who had been involved with the design and construction of the new bar - this created a real buzz as well as very happy people. Ted, who has arranged weekly jazz gigs here for over 7 years set the tone in more ways than one, including his very smart charity shop suit - yes even local charities benefit! And Julie was spreading the word about this excellent jazz venue as she raised some money through the raffle of jazz CDs, wine etc. Another great night at Burgundy's.

This sketch and one of Robin is on www.watercolourjazz.co.uk
