Bar-tailed Godwit

Limosa lapponica

A day of doing administrative things.
To try to head off a brain explosion or complete catatonia, I went for a blipwander to the beach at Seafield. It was just before high tide, so the shorebirds were quite close to the head of the beach where I could get close.
Apart from the Bar-tailed Godwit and the ubiquitous oystercatchers, there were flocks of Redshank and a few Turnstone.
The godwit have been increasing in numbers over the last month or so, having flown down from their breeding grounds in Iceland and Scandinavia. The earliest ones still had traces of their rusty red summer plumage.
A couple more shots in another place.
