Park of Keir

Park of Keir, which separates Bridge of Allan from Dunblane, is part of a designed landscape situated in the Green Belt between these two towns.

However, it has already been the subject of two Public Enquiries.

I was involved in both campaigns - SPOKE (Stop Park of Keir) and ten years later RAGE (Residents Against Greenbelt Erosion) helping to organise the local community to oppose the development which included several hundred houses, golf course and hotel.

The first Public Enquiry found in our favour and the application was turned down.

But the second time around the lawyers carefully worded their application so that it fulfilled all the criteria for development within the Green Belt.

(Basically no houses . We did not believe it. Since when did a developer build a golf course without houses? We dinnae come up the Clyde on a banana boat.)

It got passed but with many caveats. Then came the recession and so far no building has taken place.
