Throwback by Neil Dawson, 1992

Made of reinforced concrete and metal, this sculpture was commissioned in 1988 to celebrate and commemorate the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki's centenary.

The sculptor was born in Christchurch in 1948. and he has works in many places in New Zealand. This one is designed to look different from different angles, and particularly to reflect the trees and the buildings in very different ways depending on the light and the angle.
