Poaka in rapid motion

Today has been overcast leading into heavy rain. My morning run started before the time for sunrise, not that one could see any sun. The light was soft.

Near the northern end of Snells Beach was a group of eight poaka; the pied stilt, described as a "common native". They are black and white, with extremely long pinkish-red legs, and long fine black bill. The black is variable on the crown, nape, hindneck and collar. Wings and back are black.

Even in the shot I took immediately before this octet took flight, the appearance is hard to see. Looking at this in large, and with the eye of faith, you may agree that the description fits.

I have posted this as a response to the challenge word for this week; motion.

The rest of the day has been mostly spent on correspondence, tucked away. The view was non existent most of the day, due to the rain, which made being tucked away not such a bad option.
