Welcome to this day

Woke up with the birds singing the start of the day. Tui galore in the trees around the house, and indeed everywhere locally. Plus all the imports from the UK; thrushes, blackbirds and so on. Out the "back" of the house; looking out through the pohutukawa to Kawau Bay below the cliff. That's when I realised that at 0630, the sun was emerging from below the horizon and the clouds.

So this was taken with the Pentax from the "front" corner of the land almost up to the cliff, and looking through the pohutukawa on mother-in-law's land. I love the bright band of sunlight across the water of the bay, and the looming shape of Kawau Island. If you look at it large, you may be able to see in the distance
the Coromandel Peninsula on the eastern side of the Hauraki Gulf.

Changed into running gear, and headed out with the compact for about 45 mins, and collected the Sunday paper to go with coffee, muesli and berries.

Later in the morning friends arrived, partly to talk to daughter J about some plans she is helping them with, and partly for them to join S and me at one of the local winery restaurants for a very pleasant lunch and talk. A new restaurant manager since we were last there, and the quality of the food resulted in great pleasure followed by a resting time this afternoon.

Tomorrow it's back to the grind; at least I can do it here.
