Brownhills Today

Was as grim as I've ever seen it, which is saying something. Rain added to the downbeat atmosphere. It almost feels like we should just scrub it out and start again, because this go has just gone so wrong.

No matter, I went to the library and read England Observed by John Gay, which includes some incredible photos, and they are all in black and white. It has inspired me to go out and try some, he has this knack of getting the scene just when the contrast is really high, and they are so sharp they really bounce off the page. Who knows, maybe I'll try a series next week or something.

This is just wonderful.
