Sihouettes at sunset

A late afternoon walk along the coast road at Toward gave us sight of the wonderful light sky to the south and these dark trees. The land in the background is the island of Bute, and it is a sure sign of winter when the sun sets behind it rather than further to the north.

At this time - around 5pm - the temperature was 5ºC and as we headed back to the car half an hour later we met our first gritting lorry of the winter.
