Tree fern

Another day, another ruin - but this one has a tree fern growing in it - highly exotic!! Trees ferns I think originate from Australia and New Zealand but seem to do very well here. They are suprisingly hardy. I think the parents of this one are to be found across the road and it has self seeded in the shelter of this old buildings. Should it survive another cold winter it will grow enormous with a huge gnarly trunk and lots of fern fronds. It's brothers and sisters are doing very well scattered amongst the birches and beeches and not so good Japanese knotweed in a wild corner next to the river.

The weather has changed and it's gone a bit dull. A quietish day catching up, then back to work tomorrow. That's going to be a shock to the system.
