Washington with Lafayette

The New York Historical Society reopened today, after a three-year, top-to-bottom renovation.

I visited briefly this morning, and encountered various historical personages. Here in the Society's lobby are the Marquis de Lafayette and General George Washington. At this moment they appear a bit pensive after their journey through time, but they also mixed freely with the enthusiastic visitors. Everyone appeared to be having a great time.

After this I rushed back for lunch with our cousin Erika and her friend, who are in New York for a wedding. Then we headed off for an arduous drive to New Jersey (it took an hour just to get into the Lincoln Tunnel under the Hudson), to visit my son Raphael's family, including our two grandsons Max and Nate.
