Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Gate

After a "catch up, clean up " day, this afternoon we ended up with the grandsons for a short trip to the Seattle Art Museum and dinner. So here is an iphone photo of the artwork by Do Ho Suh - I put a link to it in the backblip for yesterday when we were there with the girls ,if you are interested. It's a silk fabric piece made to the exact measurement of structures at his parent's house, attached to a scrim with projections and time lapse photography--what's real and what's an illusion? Suh says "Like the moment of enlightenment in Zen Buddhism, passing through a gate takes only a split second, and then it's over. But so many things happen in such a short period of time. With this work I wanted to extend that moment of passage, to delay it, if only for an instant, to provide the viewer that moment of insight." Well, we all sat and watched for many moments on each side...
